Norm Stewart's Missouri team entered the 1993-1994 season unranked and off college basketball's radar. After an early blowout loss to #2 Arkansas they would go 25-2 the rest of the season. The Tigers won the Big 8 regular season title and earned a #1 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament.
Led by Melvin Booker Missouri cruised into the Sweet 16 after wins against Navy and Wisconsin. A 10 point win over #4 seed Syracuse put the Tigers in the Elite 8 where they would lose to #2 seed Arizona. Missouri finished the year ranked #5 in the AP Poll.
"They maximized their ability better than maybe any other team. This ball club was better than the sum of its parts. They outdid themselves...Much like a small time, the entire team was needed to make their dreams a reality."
