Kansas State Wildcats 1980-1981 Retro Shorts (Away)
Size
Led by Big 8 Player of the Year Rolando Blackman, Kansas State finished the 1980-1981 season 17-8. They entered the NCAA Tournament as the #8 seed in the West Region. After surviving a 1st round scare against #9 seed San Francisco the Wildcats faced #1 seed Oregon State with a Sweet 16 trip on the line.
With the game tied at 48 and 8 seconds to play the ball found the hands of Blackman. His pull up jumper from the right wing gave KSU the tournaments biggest upset.
"I wanted the ball," said Blackman. "I knew it was going in. The rhythm felt good."
Another close victory in the Sweet 16 against #4 Illinois put the Wildcats one win away from the Final Four with only #2 seed North Carolina in their way. An 82-68 defeat ended the Cinderella run but the '81 team lives on in the hearts of Kansas State fans. Order these great dark purple basketball shorts today!
