Wake Forest Demon Deacons 1992-1993 Retro Shorts (Away)
Size
The 1992-1993 Demon Deacons were led by ACC Player of the Year Rodney Rogers. Rogers averaged 19ppg and 10rpg during his junior campaign and lead Wake Forest to the Sweet 16. Head coach Dave Odom credits Rogers as the most important recruit in Wake Forest history and his class as the start of bringing Wake into national prominence with the likes of Randolph Childress and Tim Duncan following in Rogers footsteps.
“I say this with all due respect to all the other players, the most important recruit that we ever signed was Rodney Rogers — because he was the first great one. He was the first McDonald’s All-America. And signing him was a sign. Randolph (Childress) told me that signing Rodney was the sign that Wake Forest was serious about winning championships. And that’s an important thing.
“All due respect to Tim (Duncan) and all the others, but Rodney was the first. Rodney got us started. And he made it easier for everybody else coming in.” -Dave Odom, Head Coach
