George Raveling's USC Trojans entered the '91-92 season looking to build on the previous season in which they made the NCAA Tournament as #10 seed. Starting the season unranked, Southern Cal put the nation on notice beating #4 Ohio State, 79-77. It was the first of four wins vs. top 5 ranked teams on the year.
Two of those four wins were against UCLA and the other was 70-69 classic against #2 Arizona in the final game of the regular season. USC finished 22-5 on the year, 15-3 in the conference and earned a #2 seed in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament.
The Trojans success was in large part because of their dynamic guard, Harold Miner. In '92 Miner was named Pac-10 Player of the Year, 1st Team All-American and was named National Player of the Year by Sports Illustrated. "Baby Jordan" as he was dubbed by the media averaged over 26ppg and was a highlight reel waiting to happen on a nightly basis.
After rising all the way from unranked to #8 in the country, USC's dream season ended in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament in a heartbreaking loss to #7 seed Georgia Tech, 79-78.
