Tennessee Volunteers 1990-1991 Retro Shorts (Away)
Size
Wade Houston's Tennessee Volunteers entered the 1990-1991 season on the heels of an NIT appearance the year before. The Vols were led by sophomore sensation Allan Houston. Houston, who would go on to be the schools all time leading scorer, averaged nearly 24ppg on his way to being named to the All SEC First Team.
Unfortunately, the regular season didn't pan out the way the Vols hoped finishing 9-20. Since Tennessee went 3-15 in conference the Vols were the 10th seed entering the SEC Tournament.
After knocking off Ole Miss in the opening round, Tennessee dismantled #18 Mississippi State in the 2nd round, 87-70. A semifinal rout of Georgia put the 10th seeded Volunteers within one win of an SEC Tournament title and an automatic NCAA berth.
It wasn't to be as #24 Alabama ended the Vols magical run, 88-69.
