The story of Brandon Jennings was shaping up to be one for the ages. Here was this undersized point guard dynamo from Compton whose basketball journey had taken him to Virginia to finish high school and then on to a revolutionary step; he decided to forego college in favor of playing pro in Italy for a season. He was one of the early prep school stars pioneers to go overseas in preparation for the NBA. And then when he finally returned from Italy as the tenth overall pick of the Bucks in 2009, it seemed like the work had worked. He blitzed the League in his first seven games. He had two 20-point performances, a 30-ball and ultimately a double-nickel against the Warriors. That 55-point performance silenced the doubters--of which there were many--who questioned his quest. They cried how dare this American prospect spit in the face of bluechip college programs and choose a foreign country instead? But what those nearsighted haters couldn't see is that fortune favors the bold. SLAM 135 (March, 2010) dropped soon after BJ erupted against the Dubs. Though he had unfortunate bouts with injuries later in his career, nothing will take away the fact that Brandon Jennings broke out in the most epic of ways.
