Michigan Wolverines 1992-1993 Retro Shorts

Michigan burst onto the scene with their five freshman starters and Final Four run in '92. They entered the '93 season as the #1 team in country and a target squarely on their back. The Fab Five were now a year older and anything less than another Final Four run would be a failure.
The Wolverines went 26-4 during the regular season and never fell lower than #7 in the polls. They earned the #1 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament where they avoided a massive upset by squeaking by #9 seed UCLA, 86-84, to make the Sweet 16. Two more wins against George Washington and Temple put Michigan back in the Final Four and staring down a National Championship.
First up was fellow #1 seed Kentucky and Jamal Mashburn. An overtime thriller ensued, with Michigan prevailing 81-78 and punching their ticket to their second straight National Championship game.
In one of the most memorable National Championship games of all time, Michigan fell to Dean Smith and North Carolina, 77-71. While the Fab Five didn't win a title they left their mark as the most influential team in college basketball history during their two year run in Ann Arbor.
