With a starting lineup of Gilbert Arenas, Michael Wright, Richard Jefferson, Jason Gardner and Loren Woods, Lute Olson's Arizona Wildcats entered the 2000-2001 season as the #1 ranked team in the country.
After going 23-7 during the regular season, Arizona entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region. The Cats made short work Eastern Illinois, Butler, Ole Miss and Illinois to walk into the Final Four. A 19 point win over No. 1 seed Michigan State put Zona in the National Championship Game.
Arizona suffered an 82-72 loss to Duke, putting an end to their dominant tourney run.
